We are seeking two exceptional professionals to join our executive team in San Diego (La Jolla, CA). This is a rare opportunity to step into leadership roles within a privately held, family-run real estate investment firm with a national portfolio valued at over $2 billion in multifamily assets.

We are hiring for two distinct—but deeply connected—positions:

  1. VP of Operations: A hands-on leader with experience in property management, contract negotiation, and organizational oversight.
  2. VP of CapEx & Construction: A strategic executor with strong project management, vendor oversight, and construction experience.

These roles will work side-by-side daily in San Diego to ensure continuity, pace, and redundancy across operations and capital strategy. Each role has its own focus, but both leaders will embody the same standards of accountability, execution, and entrepreneurial ownership.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re not just hiring résumés—we’re hiring judgment, maturity, grit, and high performance. Both roles require a unique combination of legal training and real-world real estate experience, including:

  • JD or legal background with real estate law, contract law, and landlord-tenant law expertise
  • Proven leadership in property management, asset operations, or cap ex project oversight
  • Excellent with spreadsheets, budgets, and numbers—this is a business role, not just a legal one
  • High emotional intelligence: calm under pressure, receptive to feedback, and performance driven
  • Impeccable credit, character, and integrity—we entrust our leadership with authority matching responsibility.
  • Strong work ethic (60-hour weeks are the norm, not the exception)
  • Common sense, sound business instincts, and the drive to solve problems at the bedrock level
  • Comfortable reporting directly to ownership—we don’t micromanage, but we expect results

What You’ll Be Doing:

VP of Operations (Role 1):

  • Oversee day-to-day property operations, leasing, vendor contracts, and performance benchmarks
  • Serve as the internal hub between property staff, ownership, legal, and accounting
  • Develop systems for consistency, accountability, and cost savings across the portfolio

VP of CapEx/Construction (Role 2):

  • Manage major capital improvement projects from planning to execution
  • Handle contracts, timelines, budgets, and vendor negotiations
  • Ensure quality, pace, and ROI for property enhancements and repositioning

Both roles will collaborate daily and mutually back each other up, ensuring redundancy, operational fluidity and strategic execution at all times.
