You must also have a strong knowledge of locations regarding the areas you wish to cover as a real estate agent and must have great relations with the locals of the area as this could go a long way in inducing your client to purchase a particular property.

While pursuing a career in real estate and land you could incorporate yourself in the following fields within this industry, namely residential brokerage, commercial brokerage, industrial and office brokerage, property management, land development, real estate appraising, urban planning, real estate counseling, and real estate research amongst others. One could either sell land or property in the sense of bungalows or residential flats. Presently there are vast job opportunities available in the real estate market apart from being a freelancer or free agent, which includes jobs in real estate firms, property management institutions, industrial brokerage firms, insurance companies, commercial banks, or residential brokerage firms.

Salaries of a real estate land broker or agent vary from place to place. It depends a lot on the value of the property deals made. There is nothing like a fixed income, and your remunerations could vary from $5,000 to $50,000 depending upon the kinds of deals you strike. At times payment could be on the basis of commission. Salaries in this career are more performance driven. However a good real estate agent can earn up to $1,000,000 a year if he or she manages to seal million dollar property deals! If one chooses to be a buyer specialist, i.e. he or she works from the buyer's side on a commission basis, the earnings could be close to $150,000 a year depending on the number of deals he or she manages to close.

If you become a listing specialist listing the prospective sellers you could earn up to $150,000 by just providing lists to your clients or other real estate agents. If you choose to work in a real estate firm, you could be a marketing co-coordinator earning close to $30,000 to $50,000 yearly. If you become an independent sales agent you could earn from $17,000 to $20,000 a year. A real estate firm requires a lot of assistants for all of the heavy documentations and filing. If you choose to be one you could earn close to $20,000 to $100,000 annually depending on the work allocated to you and your individual skills and qualifications.

A career in real estate and land is quite a lucrative and interesting job prospect to follow if you take it up passionately. It hardly requires any special qualifications or skill sets apart from being passionate in this field, having good communication and interaction skills, and being a good seller. As this career prospect is completely self driven and self performance based you have the excellent range to determine your own annual income if you choose to work very seriously.
